Day 3: Playing cards at recess is one of my preferred ways to spend time with my students during down time. Losalia used to believe this palangi (immigrant) was not so good at pele (cards), but I'm slowly altering her mind. I love her sassy mindset towards everything ... including cards.
Day 6: First yearly Camp GLOW/GROW 3K Fun Run/Walk was a success! What fun was had! All of us met at the Vava'u Red Cross and had a blast strolling through the bush past cows, coconut trees and pigs.
Day 10: This is the first thing you see when you stroll into my home. Over the last two years this wall has brought me a lot delight and good sensations. I've filled it with inspiring quotes, photos of remarkable memories, cards and letters from abroad.
On October 7th I will fly down to Tongatapu (the main island in Tonga) and meet with Peace Corps personnel and make my way through a mountain of documents so I am free to leave the country. I will certainly also ideally have time to meet the 79th group of Peace Corps volunteers (who simply showed up in Tonga yesterday!).
This week Group 77 assembled at a resort on Tongatapu to reflect and commemorate our service. The COS (Close of Service) training not just included story telling and reflection, but likewise considering our transition back to America (reverse culture shock, logistics, and so on).
"Crazy in Love," a collaboration with Bey's spouse Jay-Z, was nominated for the Grammy award for Record of the Year, and made Beyonce the awards for Best R&B Tune and Finest Rap/Sung Collaboration. The single hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was accredited multi-platinum throughout the world.
